Malvern, PA - The Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities (MCPD) has selected the Project SEARCH program of Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, Main Line Health, to receive an Access Achievement Award.
The Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities presents Annual Access Achievement Awards to area businesses, non-profit organizations, and people who have made outstanding efforts to improve access for people with disabilities throughout the Delaware Valley. The commission awards scholarships to students with disabilities who show potential as future leaders in the Philadelphia disability community.
Donna Phillips, President, BMRH will accept the award for Project SEARCH at the 16th Annual Access Achievement Awards Breakfast on October 19, 2012 at the Marriott Courtyard, 21 N. Juniper Street, Philadelphia, PA. There will be a total of nine award winners and five students will receive scholarships to continue their education. Mayor Nutter is scheduled to give a welcome and members of the city council will present the awards and scholarships.
Project SEARCH is an innovative program established by Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, Main Line Health that focuses on adults with disabilities who want to enter or re-enter the workforce. The focus of the program is to teach skills to adults with disabilities through on-the-job experience in community businesses and organizations. The Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Project SEARCH program is the first adults-only program in Pennsylvania and only the second in the United States.
